Texas Open Dreams was founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to the basic necessities of life, including safe and stable housing, education, and community resources. We work tirelessly to provide these essential services to those in need, promoting upward mobility and a brighter future for all. Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.
We believe that by providing access to quality housing, education, and community resources, we can empower individuals and families to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Our services include housing assistance, transportation, education, and access to community resources. We are committed to making a positive impact in the greater Houston area.
OUR MISSION
Texas Open Dreams is a non-profit organization that aims to provide quality housing and access to community resources throughout the Houston area to inspire upward mobility and optimism. We strive to assist individuals and families with essential costs of living, transportation, housing, and education to improve their quality of life.
Our Board of Directors
James Bowen, President
James E. Bowen, came from the energy industry. He was the vice-president of structuring for a leading trading company for 15 years. He left this career 16 years ago to begin building, investing, and managing commercial and residential real estate. His experience is very multi-faceted and will be able to find, construct, and manage a wide variety of projects.

As a dedicated landlord, James Bowen had firsthand experiences working with affordable housing and came to realize that families require more support than simply free rent provided by HUD.

Berenice Modrow, Treasurer
Berenice studied Political Science at the University of Houston, most recently earned a Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in international business from the Marilyn Davies College of Business at the University of Houston- Downtown. She worked as an accounts payable for an international company for 5 years, most recently as a leasing consultant for luxury apartment homes in Katy for over 2 years. Berenice is fluent in both English and Spanish with experience translating and as an interpreter; she is also a Notary for the state of Texas.
Dawn Bowen, Secretary
Dawn Bowen is a Registered Nurse from the University of Texas. She has previously volunteered raising foster children. She spent ten years managing an assisted living facility in Katy, Texas before retiring to dedicate her time to Texas Open Dreams.
